Completed Illustrator Game Disk label - Final Render

Illustrator - Disk Label

Game Disk Label

Adobe Illustrator

  1. To start my game disk off, I started with the guidelines for the content and bleed. To create these I used the Ellipse tool and pressed Alt+Shift while shaping it to keep it symmetrical, then just shaped it to the size I needed.
  2. For this step I added another guideline and then used the Type-on-path tool in Illustrator to type the name of my game around the curve of the disk. I also made the logo separately in illustrator and imported it into this one I will show more on this later.
  3. To add a Background I imported an image from in-game footage of Star Citizen and placed it in the right place using the selection tool. While I was at this stage I added the pegi rating image and the PC DVD logo.
  4. For this stage i am just pretty much adding finishing touches and making sure its ready for a render.
Update
Since my last post on here i have further updated my cd cover to add on the copyright text around the edge using the text to path tool. I also added a mushroom cloud logo on the cover using the pen tool.

Introduction - Hi there!

Hi there!

My name is Mark and this is my blog. In this blog I will be documenting how to create a Game/DVD case, a Game disk label and a motion picture trailer created using edited footage.

As part of my University course I have been given the task to create these 3 items using industry leading software such as the Adobe Creative Cloud. This suite of packages has many applications that were perfect to use for this project. I would have to edit and manipulate pictures using Photoshop, I would then create a logo and disk label using Illustrator and finally I will create a trailer for my game using premiere to edit footage.

To start of with......

To start of with I think that by completing this project I would have gained some very important skills that can be used within the I.T industry across the world. First off I will decide on my theme and type of trailer I want to do. In my planning I used 4 different genres of trailer in which I could use.
These are; Action movie, Sci-fi/Space game, Comedy movie and Documentary.

Brainstorm results

From my brainstorm ideas[see 1.0]  I chose the space game genre of trailer because I am a great fan of this genre and also think that it will have a lot of different scenes that I can use in my trailer. I will further explain this when I am going through the design of my trailer using Premiere. The idea I decided to use was a combination of Star Citizen; A space game that is still in alpha stage and Farscape; A Australian TV program produced originally by Nine network and ran from 1999-2003.
I may also be using star trek footage or themes throughout my design process and final design.
